Remember Wayne Reynolds, the multi-millionaire who wanted to drop a $250 million glass beast called the Global Forum for Truth and Justice into Birmingham’s Civil Rights District? He was essentially thwarted back in January (so it was thought) when the plans and renderings revealed at a posh luncheon downtown went down like a bad oyster. The primary objection to the Forum seemed to be the location. That it whatever it is, exactly didn’t belong on sacred ground where the blood of little girls was spilled and children marching for the cause of equality in Birmingham and throughout the nation were confronted by police dogs and fire hoses.
