Hillcrest at Heritage Oaks to Meet Indians

The Hillcrest boys golf team makes the trip to Wapello tonight to take on the Indians at Heritage Oaks in a Southeast Iowa Superconference dual. The Ravens are 2-0 on the dual season after wins over Highland and Louisa-Muscatine to start the year. At Columbus Junction against L-M Tuesday, Hillcrest beat the Falcons 211-221 led by medalist London Schrock with his personal and team season best round of 44. On the year Luke and London Schrock lead Hillcrest with 46 averages per nine holes. Jace Rempel has a 58 average, Josiah Beachy 70 and Alex Niemeyer 81. Wapello enters with just one event in the books so far, a sixth place finish at Tuesday’s Nike Invitational hosted by Burlington Notre Dame where they shot a team score 445 led by freshman Zach Harbison with a 107, taking 20th place individually. Action starts tonight at 4p.m. and continues into the evening at Heritage Oaks outside of Wapello.

Demons and Golden Hawk Track Set for Mount Pleasant Meet

The first coed meet of the 2021 track season is tonight for the Washington and Mid-Prairie track teams when they make a trip to Mount Pleasant. The Washington boys are coming off of a West Burlington meet on Monday where Lance Sobaski won a pair of events in the 1600m and 800m while Elijah Morris was the fastest runner in the 400m dash. The Demon girls opened the season in the same meet and Grace Voss led them with a title in the 800m and fourth in the high jump. The Mid-Prairie boys competed in Washington last week and placed second in their division in large part to five event champions. Thaddeus Shetler took home the top spot in the 3200m and 800m run, Clarke Latchem in the 110m hurdles, Jamie Stutzman in the 1600m, and the distance medley relay team. This will be the first competition of the season for the Golden Hawk girls.
