Police: Taggers arrested near South Bay train tracks after caught in the act

SAN DIEGO    San Diego police arrested two suspected graffiti taggers Sunday morning after they said they caught them in the act of spraying paint on a train car. The men were arrested on suspicion of trespassing and vandalism around 8:45 a.m. when officers confronted them after observing them spraying paint on the train car for several minutes, Officer Dino Delimitrios said. The men, both wearing Padres caps, were found with a Rustoleum spray paint can, a bucket and bottles of Modelo beer. A female companion was also at the scene, but was not arrested. The officers didn’t immediately arrest the men to avoid a potential situation where they would have to be chased, Delimitros said.

Concerts, weddings happened routinely. People came here from all points, many different states,” Macy said of the time before the BNSF track was expanded in the south-central Kansas community a decade ago. “We used to have about 20 trains a day, and now we can have a train through here every five minutes.”
