But everyone, even the best intentioned among us, has unconscious biases: deeply ingrained, sometimes subtle prejudices against people who are in marginalized groups or embody a trait with which we don’t want to be associated. And last year brought these biases to the forefront in more ways than one, opening up conversations online, within workplaces, and in the streets. Is it possible to shed these preconceptions? The answer lies in understanding our own brains.
