United Way of Northeast Missouri announces fundraising leadership Kirksville Daily Express The United Way of Northeast Missouri has some new faces leading its fundraising drive for this year.   Bertha Thomas, President of the United Way of Northeast Missouri, announced Thursday that Chade Shorten will serve as the 2022 United Way Campaign Chair and Stephanie McGrew will be Assistant Champaign Chair. Shorten is a 2018 graduate of Truman State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication degree who currently is Manager of The Dukum Inn and WrongDaddys night club in Kirksville. She is a member of the Noon Chapter of Rotary, a State Committeewoman for the 18th District of the Missouri Democratic Party, and Vice President of Adair County Democrats.

The woman, who we will call Marina to protect her identity, is currently living with her children in housing that has been provided to her by one of the several agencies responsible for assisting survivors of family violence to find a safe home and assist in their recovery. Marina’s troubles started years ago, when she migrated from Greece to live with her partner, only to discover a few months later, that he had a violent nature. Incidents of physical abuse, she claims became a constant in her life.
