Mary Ellen Budro 79: Principal s secretary at Richfield Springs CS, Active Catholic

Mary E. Budro Mary Ellen Budro, 79, a resident of Richfield Springs (RS), NY, passed away on Good Friday, April 2, 2021, at the Charleston, SC, home of her loving daughter who was by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY, on May 8, 1941, the daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha (Brien) Vernosky. A graduate of Lyon Mountain High School, Mary was employed as secretary to the principal in the RS Central School District for many years. She was a notary public who was involved with the NYS Board of Cooperative Educational Services and the Civil Service Employees Association. Prior to moving to RS, Mary served as a law office assistant in Ticonderoga, NY and as a secretary at SUNY Plattsburgh.

BOCES sponsors COVID-19 vaccine pop-up clinic Erie 2 Board of Cooperative Educational Services will be sponsoring a COVID-19 vaccine pop-up clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at 21 E. Second St. in Dunkirk. To reserve a time slot, residents are asked to call 949-8450 or email ksnyder@e2ccb.org to register before Thursday. The clinic is being administered by The Chautauqua Center and Erie 2 Chautauqua Cattaraugus BOCES. This is first dose Moderna clinic for anyone 18 and older. The BOCES literacy program will be on site with registration, provide translators for Spanish-speaking residents, offer light refreshments while registering and waiting after the vaccine.

Mount Morris CTE students among state champs in FBLA competition

MOUNT MORRIS – Six Computer Information Services students from the Mount Morris Career and Technical Education Center recently placed among the top five – with one first place award – in four categories at the New York State FBLA Competition. The students from Perry, Warsaw and Wayland-Cohocton submitted projects they have been working on for much of the year in the CIS class. These projects were judged against other students’ submissions from all across New York state. Participation in the competition is voluntary. Larry Harvey, CIS instructor at the Mount Morris CTE Center, noted how the students set a great example for their classmates.
