Wednesday, 12 May 2021 North Carolina regulators recently approved Duke Energy s 5-megawatt (MW) solar project in Buncombe County - the company s first that will be located on a retired county landfill. Duke Energy will own and operate the 5-MW solar power plant located on the closed Buncombe County landfill in Woodfin - near Interstate 26 and the French Broad River. This innovative project enjoyed great stakeholder and local support and will continue the growth of renewable energy in North Carolina, said Stephen De May, Duke Energy s North Carolina president.
Council approved the measure during the April 27 meeting.
The $22 million county Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax project is set to be built at the Bridges at Jodeco development site inside city limits.
The agreement will put the donation of the property, design, location, permitting authority, building inspections, certificate of occupancy, impact fee waivers and all operations of the aquatic center in the hands of the county.
Additionally the county will be responsible for lighting, parking, landscaping and access roads.
City Attorney Jeremy Berry, working with County Attorney Patrick Jaugstetter, said an indemnity clause was added to protect the city.

Road resurfacing wraps in Palmyra Subdivision
Recently, all roads in the Palmyra subdivision were resurfaced, but the project is starting to wrap up.

Mathis said people living in the area shouldn’t expect any kind of rerouting or delays.
“Road paving is always in big demand in Lee County. We have about 200 miles of dirt roads and about 200 miles of paved roads and we have to repave, so there are always plenty of road projects ahead,” said Mathis.

MONROVIA – The National Elections Commission (NEC) of Liberia has denied and dismissed Madam Edith Gongloe-Weh complaint due to lack of substantial evidence.
On Monday February 22, 2021, the Hearing Officer adjudicating the Edith Gongloe-Weh Fraud case against NEC, Cllr. Bokai Harris told all parties and visitors at the hearing that Madam Edith Gongloe –Weh did not produce sufficient evidence as to her complaint of Fraud and elections irregularities during the just ended Senatorial elections in Nimba County between she and her arrival senator-elect Jeremiah Koung.
