5 ways businesses can help reduce Utah s horrible air pollution

Utah has a serious problem. Every winter, it s the same story you look out the window expecting to see a bright and sunny day, but your view is overshadowed by a thick layer of smog hovering in the sky. So you cancel your plans to take the kids to the park, skip your outdoor walk, and anxiously wait for the next snowstorm to clear things up. But this inversion is more than just a minor inconvenience and an eyesore it s deadly. A study from the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute estimated that air pollution in Utah causes 2,480 to 8,000 premature deaths annually and decreases the median life expectancy by 1.1 to 3.6 years.

Pre-engineered steel buildings a game changer for construction industry

OPINION Manish Garg, Business Head at Safal Building Systems. The construction industry has witnessed tremendous growth in the recent past, buoyed by increased demand for commercial and industrial buildings. The rise in demand has also come with a shift in consumer preferences as technological innovation sweeps through the globe. The construction industry, for instance, has witnessed a new technological wave with the advent of pre-engineered steel buildings (PEBs).  For starters, pre-engineered steel building is a modern technology where the complete design, Engineering, Detailing and Fabrication is done off site at the factory and the building components are brought to the site in CKD (completely knock down condition) and then bolted on the site using simple hosing methods in virtually no time. This technological innovation in the building industry has enabled Developers, Architects, Consulting Engineers and End Customers to get the desired control over their construction budget

Italian research finds diuretic drugs promising for COVID-19 treatment

6:04 AM MYT ROME, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) A group of researchers from the University of Bari said their studies showed an ingredient of diuretic drugs, traditionally used to treat high blood pressure, is promising in halting the impact of the coronavirus in patients. The findings, which were published in the peer-reviewed MDPI (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute) academic journal last week, showed that ethacrynic acid, the main component of some diuretic pharmaceuticals, can be an effective inhibitor of the coronavirus. Though the research is preliminary, the journal said the data can be the starting point for the development of an effective therapeutic strategy against COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
