The Central Executive Committee of the PPP has asked all the party members to resign from their positions in the opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
Making the announcement at a press conference after the conclusion of the crucial CEC meeting on Monday, PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said no party should try and impose their will and dictation on any other political party .
He said the CEC had rejected the show-cause notice issued to the PPP by other PDM parties and directed all its office-bearers in the PDM to submit their resignations from these offices with immediate effect in protest of the attitude, conduct and actions of other office-bearers of the PDM .

ISLAMABAD: Senior vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in his capacity as Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) secretary general issued show-cause notice to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Awami National Party (ANP) on Monday for nominating Yousuf Raza Gilani as the opposition leader in the Senate “in violation of the unanimous decision” of the alliance.
The PPP, however, questioned the authority and the procedure adopted for the issuance of the notice and alleged that “the move is not only aimed at damaging the PPP, but finding an excuse to formally abolish the opposition’s alliance which received big successes against the government during the recent by-polls and the Senate elections”.

The Awami National Party (ANP) on Tuesday formally announced that it was withdrawing from the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), saying the opposition alliance had been hijacked by some of its members for their own interests.
Speaking at a press conference after a meeting of the party leadership, ANP central vice-president Ameer Haider Khan Hoti criticised the issuance of a show-cause notice to the ANP by PDM secretary general Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of the PML-N for helping the PPP in getting Yousuf Raza Gilani elected as the opposition leader in the Senate.

The notices have been sent on WhatsApp. Hard copies will be handed over during today s Senate session, he said, adding that both the parties have been given seven days to respond to the notices.
Whatever answer is received will be presented during a meeting of the opposition alliance s constituent parties, he said. The PDM will decide the future course of action.
He also said that it was written on the notice that the opposition alliance will not make it public. However, both the parties can make them public if they wish to do so, he said.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Yousuf Raza Gilani confirmed that the PPP had received the notice.
