NH Liberty Alliance-backed reps target city council powers, state-imposed property tax cap

The New Hampshire House will be taking up a handful of bills this week aimed at asserting the power of the state while shrinking the authority of its municipalities.
Much of the legislation has been introduced and supported by Republican lawmakers, many of them endorsed by and associated with the NH Liberty Alliance, a coalition formed in 2003. And for the most part it has met stiff opposition from the New Hampshire Municipal Association and local government officials.

Vermont opening more shot clinic sites

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION As Vermonters 65 and older began registering for COVID-19 vaccine appointments at state-run and pharmacy sites on Monday, the state continued planning for the next stages of the vaccine rollout.
Vermont which had previously been vaccinating Vermonters 70 and older, as well as health care workers and people in long-term care facilities plans to expand vaccine clinics to include the state’s six Walmart locations beginning on Wednesday, and National Guard-run sites soon, the Vermont Department of Health said in an update for medical providers last week.
The state is already offering community vaccine clinics at the state’s 14 hospitals; through Health Department district offices; three federally qualified health centers including the Bradford, Vt.-based Little Rivers Health Care; 20 Kinney Drugs locations, including those in Bradford and Randolph; 31 Walgreens locations; as well as h

Battle Creek Balloon Festival Will Launch in 2021
The Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon festival has been cleared for takeoff and will fill the skies with planes, balloons and fireworks on the 4th of July.
The U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor demo team headlines the events and the five day competition for balloon pilots returns as the Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival is forging ahead with plans for the Summer of 2021. Executive Director Barbara Haluszka told the Battle Creek Enquirer that her board of directors met and decided to clear the launch of the festival after skipping 2020.
