Leadership from the Laurentian University Faculty Association and the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations repeated calls on Wednesday for the resignation of senior administrators and the board chair of Northern Ontarioâs largest university over the recent cuts to positions and programs under the Companiesâ Creditors Arrangement Act.

In the last miserable months of a year-long pandemic, Sudburians are sitting back and watching the theft of one of our most important institutions.
For more than 60 years, Laurentian University has been built from the vision, hard work, and dedication of thousands of our citizens; it has employed thousands more with good-paying, meaningful jobs.

And of course, Laurentian has provided high-quality university education to at least four generations of students, mainly from Sudbury and Northern Ontario. In my own family, my father was able to return to university part-time while working as an electrician, earn a BA in political science and go on to be a great high school teacher.
