Govt may ban travellers from more countries after India
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) for Covid will meet again on Wednesday (today) to consider putting restrictions on the entry of passengers from more countries after slapping a ban on India to prevent spread of the Indian variant in Pakistan through any other country.
The NCOC will also take stock of the grim situation as the number of active cases in the country has already surpassed the 80,000 mark, while 137 deaths from the coronavirus were reported in a single day, increasing the death toll in less than three weeks to 1,923.
UHS Lahore postpones postgraduate entry test

LAHORE: Due to the prevailing law and order situation in the country, the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore announced on Wednesday that it has postponed the postgraduate entry test which was scheduled to take place this week.
“Postgraduate entry test to be conducted by the University of Health Sciences which was scheduled for April 25 has been postponed,” said a statement issued by the spokesperson of the university on Twitter.
The statement said that they had rescheduled the test as many candidates could not apply for the test due to internet connectivity issues because of last week’s protests in Punjab.

The Senate Wednesday, observed a minute silence in honour of Senator Bode Olowoporoku who died recently after a brief illness at the age of 76.
This followed a point of order raised on his demise by former Senate Minority Leader, Senate Biodun Olujimi (PDP, Ekiti South).
Coming under Order 43 of the Senate Standing Rules, Olujimi noted that Senator Olowoporoku, who was born in llawe-Ekiti, Ekiti State in 1945, was at the forefront in the agitation for the creation of Ekiti State.
She said he provided extensive funding, and also played a prominent role working with the Council of Ekiti Obas and the committee for the creation of Ekiti State, adding that he utilized his robust network through his close friends Olusola Saraki and Adamu Ciroma to meet the late Head of State, Sani Abacha, for the creation of Ekiti State.
