Nicky Flesher doesn t want to be recognized as a football player who just happens to play basketball.
He loves both sports equally, and throughout his prep career, the Andrean senior has held his own on the gridiron and hardwood. I see them both the same, Flesher said. Whatever sport is in season is the primary one at the time.
Flesher is one of several Region athletes who play football and basketball, but for what it s worth, he is arguably the best.
In the fall, Flesher wrapped up a stellar career at wide receiver for the 59ers with 188 receptions for 2,380 yards and 31 touchdowns, and he recently became the eighth boys basketball player in Andrean history to eclipse 1,000 points.

Now, a new study conducted by researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is exploring how physical fitness could be related to academic abilities.
According to the researchers, kids’ physical fitness from preschool age can lead to better cognitive outcomes. Their work showed that preschoolers who have the strongest cardiorespiratory fitness are also the most likely to have the highest scores on cognitive and academic assessments.

LAKE STATIONÂ â Times No. 10 Kouts started five seniors Wednesday night, and Lake Station started two seniors and three sophomores.
The Mustangs experience, coupled with their speed and frantic defense, proved to be the difference as they ran past the Eagles for an 89-46 road victory and their 10th straight win.
Cole Wireman and Parker Kneifel provided the play of the game midway through the third quarter. As Wireman raced down the court on a fast break, instead of shooting a layup, he passed it off the backboard to a trailing Kneifel, who slammed in a two-handed dunk.
The highlight-reel alley-oop made all of the players on Kouts bench stand up, while the Mustangs fans cheered in delight.
Scientists reveal the structure of glutamate transporter in our cells
Feb 18 2021
For the first time, researchers have found one of the most important molecular machines in our cells uses a ‘twisting elevator’ mechanism, solving a mystery of how it transports crucial chemical signals from one cell to another.

A University of Sydney-led international team of scientists has revealed the shape of one of the most important molecular machines in our cells – the glutamate transporter – helping to explain how our brain cells communicate with one another.
