Bear Bryant died on this day in 1983: Vintage photos of Alabama legend’s final game, funeral

Mary Harmon Bryant didn’t want an elaborate funeral for her husband, certainly nothing at the football stadium. Her husband already had enough attention, she figured. She didn’t want music or a long list of speakers giving eulogies.
Nonetheless, the service and telecasts filled three churches in downtown Tuscaloosa. Hundreds of thousands lined the streets there and in Birmingham and along the path of Interstate 59 along which Paul “Bear” Bryant was taken to his final resting place at Elmwood Cemetery.
Bryant died on Jan. 26, 1983 and the services were held on Jan. 28. He was 69 years old, only a month removed from the last football game he ever coached, the 1982 Liberty Bowl the 323rd of his then-record victories.

The Indian School of Business (ISB) has on Wednesday announced the appointment of Professor Madan Pillutla as its Sixth Dean.
Pillutla is a globally renowned management academic and leader in the field of organizational behavior, currently at London Business School (LBS). He will succeed the Dean Rajendra Srivastava and will formally take over on July 1, 2021.
A visiting faculty member at ISB since its founding, Prof Pillutla currently serves as a Professor of Organizational Behavior, a department he chaired in the past, at LBS. Having served as the Deputy Dean of Faculty, Ex-Officio Member of the Executive Committee, and the Faculty Representative on the Governing Body of LBS, he brings extensive administrative experience.

Palestinian-American Reema Dodin is to be appointed Deputy Director of the White House Office of Legislative Affairs, making her the first Arab American woman to hold the post and the first Arab-American in President-elect Joe Biden’s Adminstration. Dodin, who shares the position with Shuwanza Goff, will be joining the Legal Affairs team in January 2021.
She currently serves as Deputy Chief of Staff and Floor Director to the Democratic senator Dick Durbin. She previously served as Durbin’s floor counsel and research director. Dodin also served as an aide to the Judiciary Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Law, which Durbin chaired.
