In early 2021, Scott Bridges was staying with his son in Sandy, Utah, when he awakened one morning unable to urinate. Over 16 frustrating hours, the 64-year-old kept returning to the bathroom without being able to pass any urine.
Throughout the day, his situation only became more painful until he decided to go to a nearby urgent care. A nurse inserted a catheter and drained over a liter from his bladder.
“I had this attack with my prostate, and it just shut me down,” Scott recalls. “It stopped me in my tracks.”
The next day, Scott traveled to Washington State, only to again find he could not urinate. After he went to a local ER, he ended up wearing a catheter for six weeks.

With COVID-19 cases on the rise, Gov. Spencer Cox joined health officials Thursday in asking Utahns to do the one thing that can stop the increase get vaccinated.

“If you re unvaccinated, you should be very worried this Fourth of July.” he said Thursday during the state’s COVID-19 briefing.
Case numbers and hospitalizations are once again on the rise in Utah. The state’s Department of Health reported 574 new cases on Wednesday, which is the highest total since April 21. Another 540 cases were reported Thursday.

SALT LAKE CITY â Governor Spencer Cox warned that Utahns who have not yet gotten the COVID-19 vaccine should be worried as the state s cases start to spike again and hospitals start to fill up. If youâre unvaccinated, you should be worried this Fourth of July, the governor said, adding: The good news is, you can still get vaccinated before the Fourth of July.
Roughly 95% of all COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths are unvaccinated people. Gov. Cox expressed some frustration that people have not yet taken advantage of the free and widely available vaccines.
