Charity Nebbe speaks with Mike and Brooke Overholt in Iowa City. They moved their family back to Iowa from South Carolina during the pandemic with four kids and another on the way. The Overholts said the pandemic made it difficult to travel safely, but different approaches to the pandemic strained their relationships with family in South Carolina and Florida. As a result, their children and newborn have been unable to see or meet their grandparents.
The overwhelming loss of life in the past year has caused many to grapple with their own mortality and rethink their priorities. Time spent in isolation has given some people time to reflect on the relationships in their lives. While for some, their journey has been a time of emotional growth, there has also been a lot of pain in dealing with relationships that have been strained, or even fractured, because people have taken very different approaches to dealing with the threat of this coronavirus.
The fourth finalist has been announced for the next University of Iowa president.
The Iowa Now website reports that Daniel L. Clay, dean of the University of Iowa College of Education, will meet with the campus community Thursday and Friday. That includes a public forum which will occur Thursday afternoon at 3:30.
Dean’s education includes a degree in Psychology from the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, a Masters in Educational and Counseling Psychology, a PhD in Counseling Psychology and an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Missouri. He also has a certificate in Higher Education Administration from Harvard.

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, has announced the fourth finalist for the next president of the University of Iowa.
Daniel L. Clay
Daniel L. Clay, dean of the University of Iowa College of Education, will visit campus on April 22 23 to meet with faculty, staff, and students. Clay’s curriculum vitae and full interview schedule are available on the UI presidential search website and on the Board of Regents website.
Clay will participate in an open forum at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 22.
