Man dead in Iowa City shooting; ICPD investigating, seek public s help

View Comments Update April 30: The Iowa City Police Department is investigating the death as a homicide, according to a Friday news release. Iowa City Police also identified the 31-year-old victim.  Original story below: A man was shot in Iowa City on Wednesday and later died in the hospital. Iowa City Police responded to a report of gunshots Wednesday night near the 2400 block of Lakeside Drive. According to a release from the police department, officers found an adult male victim who had been shot. The victim was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he was pronounced deceased.

Montezuma, Iowa | Age 72 Served With Honor ~ United States Military Veteran Donald “Donnie” Young, 72, of Montezuma passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Donald Wesley Young was born on October 15, 1948, in Oskaloosa, IA, to Dorothy Lowe and Milton Young. Donnie graduated from Montezuma High School in 1966. He attended Kirkwood college to study computer science for one year before being drafted into the army. He served in Germany for two years. Donnie married the love of his life Cherie on March 27, 1971, at the First Baptist Church in Oskaloosa, IA. They lived in Barnes City until 2004 when they moved to Montezuma, where they had plenty of room for horses and fun to be had. Together they had three children: Justin, Preston (& Connie), and Austin (& Taren) of Montezuma.
