Trump s era is showcasing the worst of what the American underbelly has to offer

AP In this combination of photos, on June 3, 2020, demonstrators, left, protest the death of George Floyd at the US Capitol in Washington and Trump supporters try to break through a police barrier on January 6, 2021. To put into context the white privilege on display, the recent Black Lives Matter protest outside the Capitol had a fully armed National Guard lining those same steps to prevent anyone trespassing, yet were notably absent on Thursday. Thank God airlines are getting rid of emotional support animals

Put down the Yorkie and come out with your hands up! Your days here are through! It’s been announced that American Airlines is among the first to ban emotional support animals from the passenger cabins of their planes. And thank God. It’s about time. Last month the federal government cleared the way for airlines to make this decision. Keep in mind emotional support animals and service animals are two very different things. A blind person who uses a trained, legitimate seeing eye dog, a person who suffers seizures who relies on a trained service animal for early detection, etc., can still have them. It’s the people who fake their way into bringing mere pets, not trained to perform any task that the person cannot do for themselves, onto planes who will be stopped.

Pension Reform Success Stories

Pension Reform Success Stories Most states and many municipalities have passed some kind of pension reform in recent years, but only a few did so in a way that addresses the immediate unfunded liability of their plans. Plus: Has pension reform gone too far? Brian Peteritas   |   April 2013 For Chris Bartley, the turning point in Lexington, Ky.’s pension deal came when the city finally budged. The longtime firefighter and union chief was slow to trust politicians. So he stood his ground and well into fall 2012, Bartley and other representatives returned again and again to the negotiating table. Tasked with fixing the city’s looming pension debt created by slow revenue growth and soaring entitlement costs, they had made no progress.
