Abu Dhabi, UAE, February 2, 2021: Adolescent mothers often fall through the cracks of educational programming. This is highly problematic given that globally an estimated 12 million girls between the ages of 15-19, and 777,000 girls under the age of 15, give birth each year. In populations affected by conflict and displacement, adolescent girls have an increased likelihood of becoming mothers due to various factors, such as disruptions to schooling, the loss of family members, poverty, gender-based violence, and poor access to healthcare and sexual and reproductive services and resources. There is a lack of support programs for these young mothers, and a continuing need for educational programming.

Upstate New York-area police are defending their actions to use pepper spray on a 9-year-old girl, saying she was threatening to harm herself and others during a family dispute.
Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren expressed outrage after body-cam video showed a member of the Rochester Police Department using pepper spray on the young girl while she was handcuffed in the back of a police car.
“I have a 10-year-old child, so she’s a child, she’s a baby, Warren was quoted by the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle as saying. This video, as a mother, is not anything you want to see.”

Brown s Grove moving its Sarasota County business from downtown to farm
Twenty years ago, Brown s Grove in eastern Sarasota County was off the grid.
The farm had five acres of orange groves in the early 2000s, all ripe for picking during season. The problem was, nobody knew who they were. People wouldn t come out here 20 years ago, owner Tim Brown said. There was nothing east of Interstate 75, so that s why we felt we needed to take our business to the town.
It worked out well for about 20 years for the business to sell from farmers markets along the coast, Brown says. But with limitations because of COVID-19 and consumers desire for a more convenient way to get fresh produce, they have pulled out of the farmer s market.
