Michigan Tech Prof Denounces School s Racism Training Cancel Mob Wants Him Fired

See to that and resolve the accounting. Let him have another chance to not get hired for a job because he s a straight white male. To have evidence you need to try it a few times right? Jeffrey Burl, who last month denied seeing any discrimination against people of color  or women in his 28 years at the university. Yeah, that s exactly how privilege works. Nothing in his life required him to see it. https://t.co/CEi4bjmEVa A petition is circulating on Change.org titled “Terminate Michigan Technological University Associate Professor Jeffrey Burl,” and has more than 1,500 signatures as of Thursday. California allocates $1 4 million to track and stop attacks against Asian Americans

California allocates $1.4 million to track and stop attacks against Asian Americans Lawmakers in California this week allocated $1.4 million in state funds to help Asian Americans report hate incidents after a string of recent violent attacks in the state. “The rise in hate incidents against Asian Americans during the pandemic is alarming. But, we can’t solve a problem without knowing how big it is,” said Assemblymember Phil Ting of San Francisco and chair of the state’s budget committee. The funds will support the work of researchers at the Asian American Studies Center at the University of California Los Angeles as well as several initiatives including the Stop AAPI Hate website, which began collecting reports of racism and discrimination against Asian Americans on March 19 last year.

Many genes associated with the risk of coronary artery disease act through the liver

According to a new study published in The American Journal of Human Genetics, more than one third of genetic variants that increase the risk of coronary artery disease regulate the expression of genes in the liver. These variants have an impact on the expression of genes regulating cholesterol metabolism, among other things. The findings provide valuable new insight into the genetics of coronary artery disease. The study was conducted in collaboration between the University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio University Hospital, the University of California Los Angeles, and the University of Arizona. Coronary artery disease (CAD) and its most important complication myocardial infarction (MI) are among the leading causes of death in the Western world. Both genetic and environmental factors contribute to the disease and recent genome-wide association studies have identified approximately 200 risk loci for CAD. However, the vast majority of such variants are located in the non-coding regions
