London Member of Parliament David Lammy, who took part in the politicians’ video, said he’s not surprised by the survey findings because he’s seen this hesitancy in his own family.
“I had been in touch with relatives who are in their 80s and 70s to ask them if they had taken the vaccine and many of them were coming back and saying, no, they weren t sure they wanted it, Lammy said.
Lammy’s uncle died in New York last year after contracting the coronavirus. The lawmaker watched the funeral over Zoom, which he said was deeply depressing. And his uncle is just one of many people he knows who has died from the disease.

Union members are on strike over staff redundancies at the University of East London.
Members of the University and College Union (UCU) were due to stop work today (February 22) in solidarity with five UEL academics.
UCU rep Aura Lounasmaa said: We were willing to pause strike action if we had seen UEL move to discuss the issue with us sooner and make a credible offer to maintain the jobs, but they ve left it too late.

On a recent rainy evening in East London, dozens of young people lined up outside a cramped community hub to collect rice, vegetables and other food essentials.
In the line were foreign students who came to Britain to pursue their dreams of higher education, but have found themselves plunged into pandemic-driven poverty. Finding food here is hard prices are higher compared to India, said Jay Patel, an Indian student among those waiting outside the Newham Community Project, a local charity handing out the foodstuffs.
