A HIGH-FLYING Sellafield boss will help educate the next generation of business leaders after being appointed as a professor at the University of Cumbria. Dr John Sidney, the head of supply chain solutions at the nuclear site on Cumbria s west coast, has been appointed as the professor of practice at the University’s Institute of Business, Industry and Leadership. He will take up the full-time position this month The role involves the study of supply chain and logistics and John will work to improve the curriculum, experience and university environment. Professor Julie Mennell, vice chancellor of the University of Cumbria said: We are delighted to appoint Dr Sidney as a professor of practice.

THE head of supply chain solutions at Sellafield Ltd, has been appointed as a Professor of Practice in the Institute of Business, Industry and Leadership at the University of Cumbria. Dr Sidney joined Sellafield Ltd, formerly BNFL, in 1989 and has held a number of roles ranging from commissioning radiometric measurement systems, through socio-economics to a range of commercial roles. He has also been committed to the social and economic life of the community, especially in the field of education and development as a champion of STEM, a governor of Furness College and as Cumbrian chair of Young Enterprise and the leadership development charity Common Purpose.
