Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a call on January 21, 2021 at 3:05 p.m. reporting a commercial vehicle collision had occurred on KY Route 319 in the Hardy community of Pike County. Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Division responded and began the investigation.
The initial investigation indicated James Hager, 48 year old of Inez, was operating a 1990 white Kenworth tractor trailer loaded with logs on KY Route 319 when he lost control, causing his vehicle to overturn. Hager was pronounced deceased on scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office. Debris from the vehicle struck a Chevrolet pickup parked in the driveway of a nearby residence. The owner of the Chevrolet pickup, Larry Stanley, 59 years old of Hardy, was inside of the vehicle, but did not sustain any injuries. KY Route 319 was shut down for several hours while emergency crews cleaned debris from the roadway.

Today, Gov. Andy Beshear was joined by First Lady Britainy Beshear and Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman for a memorial flag ceremony on the Capitol grounds to commemorate the more than 3,300 Kentuckians lost to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Every flag you see represents a real Kentuckian, one who was and is loved by their families and friends, who meant something to the communities in which they lived,” Gov. Beshear said. “Each and every loss is singular and heartbreaking.”
The Governor and Lieutenant Governor spoke briefly before they and the First Lady placed the last of 3,301 flags, one for each Kentuckian whose death has been attributed to COVID-19.
