Belarus, Finland discuss rescue operations in high-rise buildings Photo from ucp.by MINSK, 13 January (BelTA) – The University of Civil Protection of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry played host to a seminar within the framework of the twinning project “Strengthening the Emergencies Ministry of the Republic of Belarus”, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry. During the seminar, head of the department for rescue and emergency services and response to emergencies of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry Sergei Novik and representative of Helsinki City Rescue Department Kimmo Tuominen discussed evacuation and firefighting operations in high-rise buildings and compared Belarusian and Finnish approaches to these operations. Jari Marttila, an expert with Helsinki City Rescue Department, briefed the participants of the seminar via videoconferencing about education and training at the Emergency Services Academy Finland.
