CVHD Shares Successful Week of COVID-19 Vaccinations

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (CVHD) – This week, Central Valley Health District (CVHD) with the assistance of Sanford Clinic, the North Dakota National Guard, and various community volunteers administered a total of 834 COVID-19 vaccinations, which included 754 first doses and 80 second doses. Of those who received their vaccination, 746 were in the 65 and older population, the remainder were Phase 1A health care workers, including University of Jamestown nursing students. “Our staff worked very hard this week to complete COVID vaccinations in the community. We want to thank all our partners for their assistance as it kept the clinics run very smoothly this week,” stated Robin Iszler, Unit Administrator.

Jimmies Split Doubleheader with Warriors

JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown men’s basketball team hit the century mark on senior day as they defeated Midland 100-74 to win their sixth straight game. Midland got out to an initial lead in the first half of play before Marc Kjos went unconscious from three-point range, hitting 5-of-6 in the first half. Jamestown went into the break with a 10 point lead and put its foot on the gas from that point forward. Sophomore Mason Walters collected his 19th double-double of the year, scoring 21 points and snagging 15 boards. Kjos finished with 18 points and five assists. Senior Allante’ Pickens also scored in double figures, going 4-7 for 13 points and five assists.

Cheyenne Central s Andrew Cummins Signs with Jamestown

Cheyenne Central quarterback Andrew Cummins will be taking his football skills to North Dakota to play for the Jimmies of the University of Jamestown. In his senior year with Central, Cummins threw for 2369 yards which was ranked #2 in 4A. He threw 21 touchdown passes with 12 interceptions and had a couple of games where he threw for over 300 yards. Cummins rang up 358 yards through the air against Thunder Basin and threw for 303 yards in their contest with Laramie. Cummins completed 63% of his passes and averaged 236 yards passing per game. All that added up to 4A all-state honors. Jamestown is an NAIA school that went 1-7 in the 2020 season.

AAUW to learn about drug court on Feb 11

Event will be held through a Zoom meeting. 7:00 am, Feb. 3, 2021 × Jamestown AAUW members and other interested people are invited to attend a Zoom meeting about the Stutsman and Barnes County Drug Court, which graduated participants in November. The virtual meeting will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, through Zoom. Southeast District Judge Cherie Clark, an AAUW member, will be joined by John Gourde, program manager, parole/probation, North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and others. The program will cover information about the drug court process and purpose, criminal justice reform and how the community can be involved. Members can join through Zoom or by phone.
