The new Richardson, Texas development will include a $22 million Element by Westin hotel located at 2205 North Glenville Ave. The hotel, which will be developed and managed by Midas Hospitality, is scheduled to open in the summer of 2021. The four-story hotel offers 123 spacious suites that include full-equipped kitchens and spa-inspired bathrooms. The Element concept encourages renewal through a nature-influenced environment and is constructed with an efficient use of space and sustainability in mind. Highlights include a Motion Fitness Center, an all-natural saline pool, and a Bikes to Borrow program for its guests.

Called Lemma Coffee, it s a plucky shop newly opened at 9250 Dallas Pkwy., at the corner of Main Street, in a little center called World Cup Plaza, where it s charming locals with specialty drinks and doting service. Owner Daniel Baum founded Lemma in 2017, when he launched a coffee stand at the Denton County Farmers Market. Thanks to a combination of determination and a little good luck, he s navigated his coffee concept into two brick-and-mortar locations and attracted lots of fans along the way.

Paris High student Tate Lewis wins $125,000 scholarship

Paris High School senior Tate Lewis has defied many odds, from being born with a heart defect to his latest triumph winning a $125,000 scholarship from Dr Pepper over the weekend. “I felt great,” he said. “It was definitely the experience of a lifetime and I am truly blessed … You could see the emotion on my face.” Lewis went up against 18-24-year-olds from around the nation for the scholarship, first creating a video he submitted to Dr Pepper for a chance at the scholarship, and then making it to the final round where he threw more footballs than anyone in the competition.

Lewisburg When the COVID-19 pandemic abruptly halted her study abroad in Rome last March, Bucknell University student Emma Arrighini ’21 decided to turn the unexpected return home into an opportunity. She contacted Bucknell’s Center for Career Advancement and staff there suggested she browse the website covintern.com to seek out some career experience. A psychology and political science double major who is planning to pursue a career in neuromarketing, Arrighini became intrigued by an opportunity on the site posted by students from the University of Texas at Austin and University of Texas at Dallas. They had developed InStok — a website that located and compared prices of items in short supply during the pandemic (toilet paper, cleaning wipes, etc.) — and they needed help. She emailed them and soon became the fourth member of their team.
