UAFS hires John Blue as Executive Director of Diversity Equity and Inclusion

FORT SMITH, Ark. Effective Jan. 19, 2021, John William Blue will become the first executive director of diversity, equity, and inclusion at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith.
Blue is currently the director of Student Life and Multicultural Affairs at the University of Tennessee at Martin and has a 15-year history in higher education including student affairs, multicultural affairs, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

MARTIN, Tenn. (KFVS) - Corteva Agriscience, of Union City, donated 35 retired drones, valued at approximately $35,000, to the University of Tennessee at Martin.
The drones will be used in three new courses premiering in the fall of 2021 that will teach students the fundamentals of unmanned aerial systems and its emerging importance in the field of agriculture and natural resources management.
Dr. Philip Smartt, professor of natural resources management and certified unmanned aerial systems pilot, will instruct the new courses and is excited to teach students how to utilize the drones in a protected, hands-on environment.

The Tennessee Council of Cooperatives (TCC) recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Nicholas Carpenter of Crossville. Nick is a student at the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM) and is the son of Alan Carpenter. He is a junior working toward a Bachelorâs Degree in Agriculture Communications.Â
