Additional 3,000 vaccines requested for UP-PGH personnel

QUEZON CITY, Mar. 6  (PIA) The University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) asks for additional 3,000 Sinovac vaccines for their personnel as many had themselves vaccinated more than what was on the initial list, said Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque Jr. during the March 4 press briefing. Initially, only 1,200 UP-PGH frontline healthcare workers had their names included in the vaccination priority list, he added. UP-PGH COVID Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse-III Mai Anne Del Monte of the Philippine General was vaccinated on the first day of roll-out shared  in the same briefing that she herself got vaccinated because she know that the vaccine can help protect her from COVID-19.

University of the Philippines (up.edu.ph) The 2021 QS University Rankings by Subject placed the University of the Philippines (UP) in the 101-150 rank for Politics and International studies, and the 151-200 rank for English Language and Literature, Agriculture and Forestry, and Geography. In total, UP placed 15 out of 51 disciplines, down from last year’s 18. Both the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) and De La Salle University (DLSU) ranked in four subjects each. AdMU entered the rankings in Modern Languages, 251-300; Business and Management Studies, 451-500, retaining its place in English, Language, and Literature, 201-250; and falling in Sociology, 301-320 from last year’s 251-300.

The second virtual general assembly by the premier collegial body will convene its membership dispersed  across  the  17  Philippine  regions,  composed  of  nearly  5,000  seasoned  and  young researchers and artists, along with local and foreign practitioners in S&T and research.
