CALOOCAN CITY, Jan. 25 (PIA) The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) on Friday brought the #ExplainExplainExplain information roadshow to various localities that clarified the national government s COVID-19 vaccination strategies and roadmap in order to gain clearer public understanding on the coronavirus vaccine.
PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar personally led the information drive cum townhall meeting throughout Central Visayas with the PAGDU-AW sa Negros Oriental’ an event held at the Dumaguete Convention Center in Dumaguete City that brought together government experts, national and local government officials, and key stakeholders to answer pressing questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and help provide direction for communities. The event broadcast live through all official government media and social media channels.

PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sen. Richard Gordon demonstrated how to collect samples from saliva test and explained the procedure in the public launching.
Currently, he noted that a saliva test costs P2,000, which is cheaper compared to the RT-PCR swab test priced at P3,800.
“Kapag marami na ang nagpapa-test, puwedeng babaan (If more people would avail the saliva test, we can lower the cost in the future),” he added.
Gordon said that the PRC explored saliva RT-PCR test as an “alternative because it is non-invasive and less-stringent.”
Unlike the RT-PCR swab test, he noted that there is no need for a specimen collector to wear full personal protective equipment (PPE).
Lacson: Prudent to Suspend UP-DND Accord Termination
Recent developments involving decisions based on false information may merit at least a suspension of the Department of National Defense s decision to end its agreement with the University of the Philippines, Sen. Panfilo M. Lacson said Monday.
Lacson said this after DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana apologized for an unpardonable gaffe involving the military s list of UP students supposedly recruited by the New People s Army and killed or captured in clashes. I think it is prudent now for Secretary Delfin Lorenzana to at least suspend the termination of the UP-DND accord and hold a dialogue as he already mentioned he would do, Lacson, who chairs the Senate Committee on National Defense and Security, said in an interview on CNN Philippines.
AFP needs facts not hypotheticals on UP deal abrogation –professor

Earlier, military spokesman Major General Edgard Arevalo claimed that the UP-DND accord, which prevents the police and military from freely entering campus grounds, could hamper valid operations of state forces.
