Jack Thompson, who spent more than 50 years serving Georgia Tech athletics from his days as a football recruiter to leading the Yellow Jackets’ fundraising efforts, has passed away at the age of 84.
In his career with Georgia Tech Athletics, Jack Thompson made an indelible mark, first as a football recruiter who touched the lives of many of the Yellow Jackets who passed through the program in the 1960s and 1970s, but more importantly as a fundraiser in the Alexander-Tharpe Fund, Georgia Tech athletics’ development arm, spearheading fundraising efforts for the construction or major renovation of every athletics facility on Tech’s campus. His efforts also provided scholarships for thousands of student-athletes to receive their education and degrees from Georgia Tech.

COLUMBIA, S.C. The South Carolina man accused of killing a woman who mistook his vehicle for her Uber ride later tried to clean blood out of the car with bleach, a witness testified Wednesday.
Nathaniel Rowland is standing trial on kidnapping and murder charges in the death of 21-year-old Samantha Josephson. The University of South Carolina student from Robbinsville, New Jersey, disappeared from Columbia’s Five Points entertainment district one night in March 2019. It was the spring before she was set to graduate and head to law school.

Court documents by the agency revealed that Samantha Josephson, 21, sustained “numerous wounds to multiple parts of her body to include her head, neck, face, upper body, leg, and foot,” Inside Edition previously reported.
Samantha Josephson, the University of South Carolina senior who was allegedly kidnapped and brutally killed after getting into a car that she mistook for her Uber, suffered “heinous, cruel and malicious acts,” prosecutors told jurors on Tuesday during the trial of accused murderer Nathaniel Rowland, according to a published reported.
Josephson, 21, an aspiring lawyer, was out with her friends in Columbia’s Five Points entertainment district. After she got separated from her roommates she called an Uber and mistakenly got into a black Chevrolet Impala driven by Rowland, the man who prosecutors say allegedly kill her, Inside Edition Digital previously reported.
