Chinese dissidents fear Belarus hijacking precedent Share Chinese dissidents living in Australia have expressed alarm over the forced diversion of a Ryanair flight to Belarus, warning it may set a precedent for Beijing to hijack commercial aircraft carrying people it considered enemies of the state. Belarusian authorities used a bomb scare and scrambled a fighter jet to force a plane flying between two EU member states to land in Minsk on Sunday to arrest a journalist on board. The act was condemned by the United States and Europe as a danger to all civilian flights. Shanghai-born political cartoonist, artist and rights activist Badiucao fears China could hijack commercial flights to kidnap dissidents.
