Beijing’s Antitrust Probes an Effort to Rein In Private Sector, Analysts Say Chinese financial regulators are stepping up their scrutiny of technology companies, ordering an antitrust investigation of Alibaba and requesting that Ant Group rectify its businesses and comply with regulatory requirements. The regime also issued new “antitrust reports” on Dec. 25, detailing the number of investigations that were begun by authorities in 2019, including on foreign joint ventures and Chinese private companies, and the penalty fees imposed on them. Analysts believe Beijing is focusing its efforts on major corporations because it needs to seize capital, as China’s economy continues its downward trend and government coffers dry up.

He was only 25. “I gave up my whole career and I gave up living overseas in order to be able to come back and make sure that these kids in my family were gonna be able to make it through, and be able to grow and prosper and just try to grow up to be healthy individuals,” he says.

The Gamilaroi woman was on the frontline, working as a nurse at the local hospital, and is a registered Aboriginal Health Worker.   Her niece, who lived with Teresa s elderly mother, received a false positive COVID-19 test. My mum has had breast cancer, she s a bad asthmatic, she s got a pacemaker in, and she would often call me crying on the phone,” Teresa says.
