The study grew out of prior research in the Nagler laboratory at UChicago on the fecal microbiota in infants. By transplanting fecal microbes from healthy and food-allergic infants to germ-free mice (who do not possess a microbiome), investigators found that the healthy infant microbiota was protective against the development of food allergies. Auditor General Tim DeFoor vows to deliver on ‘accountability, integrity, and transparency’

Pennsylvania on Tuesday inaugurated its first person of color to a statewide row office with the swearing-in of Tim DeFoor as the auditor general.
DeFoor, 59, took the oath of office administered by Superior Court Judge Carolyn Nichols, the only Black judge currently serving on the state’s appellate courts, before a crowd of nearly 50 people outside King Mansion in downtown Harrisburg in the county where he grew up.
In his remarks, DeFoor credited those who paved the way for him to make this mark in state history, men like the late Congressman John Lewis and the late Rev. C.T. Vivian, who championed racial and social justice.

WVU Medicine believes no West Virginian should have to leave the state’s borders for world-class cardiovascular care. It’s why the organization founded its Heart and Vascular Institute at Morgantown’s Ruby Memorial Hospital, which quickly has grown into one of the nation’s best.
Now the institute is branching out, and one of those branches will grow at Wheeling Hospital, which is becoming a crucial base for the institute’s mission.
