Oftentimes, it’s a thankless job – serving and protecting your country. The long-term effects of a deployment – combat or non-combat, can result in Iife-changing circumstances even for those who manage to handle the stress of serving in the military. As a combat Veteran, Jacinto-Temilotzin Sanchez has experienced many of these effects including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
However, when Sanchez crosses the dais to receive his diploma from The University of New Mexico this May, it will be a far different experience than the road he traveled to get to Albuquerque. As a former Army paratrooper who has managed the effects of PTSD, Sanchez has seen his share of life-changing events spanning a 20-year career in the U.S. Army that included two deployments to Iraq. He is receiving a Bachelor´s in Liberal Arts cum laude with a concentration in Spanish. Montgomery: The city will offer 100 $50 Walmart gift cards each at four neighborhood COVID-19 vaccine clinics in an attempt to combat declining numbers in the state. The clinics will not require an appointment, insurance or identification. “Our goal has always been to protect the lives and livelihoods of everyone in Montgomery,” Mayor Steven Reed said in a statement. “The COVID-19 vaccines are our best chance to do so.” The city is also organizing free rides to and from the clinics for those without transportation. Virologist Grant McFadden spent two decades studying a deadly virus in rabbits that didn’t seem to affect humans.
Then he discovered it could actually treat cancers in humans. Now, the Taekwondo black belt is prepping for a fight against tumors, using a virus as his weapon.
Fears of mutations introduced by scientific tampering by humans are rampant throughout the sci-fi genre. The reality though? A bit less dramatic, says Grant McFadden, a virologist who has spent the past two decades trying to tweak virus treatments so they can defeat deadly diseases. There are no zombies in this film. Instead, there are bunnies that could hold the key to curing cancer.
