In the final home game of the season and on the day in which the University of New Mexico softball team honored its four seniors, the Lobos prevailed in a 5-4 win over San José State to win the series.
While Saturday’s game-two win snapped a 14-game losing streak to the Spartans, Sunday’s win signified UNM’s first series win over SJSU since 1999.
Moments after being recognized in her final game at Lobo Softball Field, senior pitcher Kiana Spencer took to the circle to start Sunday’s series finale and pitched a complete game. It was her seventh time as a Lobo throwing 7 innings and her 15th complete game, striking out four batters in the process to tie her season high.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. The University of New Mexico will host an in-person commencement ceremony for graduating students next Saturday.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no guests will be allowed to attend the ceremony in-person. Instead, UNM will livestream the event across multiple platforms.
The ceremony will be held at University Stadium at 9 a.m.

Charlotte Prouse Sets New Personal Best in 3000m Steeplechase
WALNUT, Calif. Charlotte Prouse of The University of New Mexico track and field team posted a new personal best in the 3000m Steeplechase, finishing at a time of 9:39.78 at the USATF Golden Games and Distance Open at Mt. SAC. The field included five runners currently ranked in the top-35 in the world in the 3000m Steeplechase.
Prouse’s previous personal best in the 3000m Steeplechase was set at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, finishing as the runner-up at a time of 9:44.50.
Finishing in ninth place overall, Prouse managed to stay consistent throughout the race and found her stride alongside Mel Lawrence, who is currently ranked 18th in the world in the race, through the last two laps.

USAFA, Colo. The University of New Mexico baseball team delivered three home runs in three innings, but it was not enough to change the momentum of the game and ultimately fell 3-10 to Air Force. The Lobos (9-23, 6-15 MW) split the series 3-3 after sweeping the Falcons (20-18, 12-12 MW) earlier this season at home.
“These boys have been on the road 75 percent of the season and in COVID quarantine for almost 70 days, not including the four months back home in between during the height of COVID,” said head coach Ray Birmingham. “It will be good to play at home.”
