How to use the NYS Mesonet to watch the Nor easter snowfall from home

New York State Team ALBANY In case you haven t heard, there s a big snow storm rolling through much of the northeast later Wednesday evening. Some areas are going to be hit harder than others, forecasts say. Monroe County, for example, is expected to see only 1 to 3 inches of snow, while Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung and Tompkins counties to the south could see up to a foot of snow Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo. And there could be even more through the Hudson Valley and south. For the folks envious of the heavy snowfall other areas of New York will see, there s a way to keep an eye on all that snowfall as it accumulates  the New York State Mesonet.

UMF wins grant for Virtual Global Classrooms Project

Submitted photo FARMINGTON The University of Maine at Farmington is excited to announce it has been awarded a nearly $200,000, two-year Federal grant from the U.S. Department of Education to help fund a Virtual Global Classrooms Project. The project will create virtual global classrooms at universities in other countries where UMF students can collaborate with faculty and students in other countries, including UMF’s international partners in France, Spain, Germany, Cyprus, Hong Kong and Japan while gaining international cross-cultural experience through remote learning.
