In their latest research published Monday in the journal
Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the researchers discovered a way to stabilize the detonation needed for hypersonic propulsion by creating a special hypersonic reaction chamber for jet engines.
“There is an intensifying international effort to develop robust propulsion systems for hypersonic and supersonic flight that would allow flight through our atmosphere at very high speeds and also allow efficient entry and exit from planetary atmospheres,” says study co-author Kareem Ahmed, an associate professor in UCF’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. “The discovery of stabilizing a detonation the most powerful form of intense reaction and energy release has the potential to revolutionize hypersonic propulsion and energy systems.”

CBRE appoints Mike Watts as president for investor leasing May 10, 2021
CBRE announced today that Mike Watts, a veteran of more than 25 years in commercial real estate, has joined the company as President, Investor Leasing in the Americas.
Mr. Watts, based in Chicago, will start at CBRE on May 17. He will work in partnership with CBRE’s Americas Advisory leadership team to provide leasing services to the company’s investor/landlord clients across all property types, focusing primarily on the office sector. Mr. Watts will coordinate with CBRE’s Property Management, Capital Markets, Project Management and Valuations leaders to serve investor clients in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.

WASHINGTON U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh s move this week to block a rule making it easier to classify gig workers as independent contractors is just a first step in what is likely to be a long battle over how to delineate the rights of America s growing gig army.
The rule by former President Donald Trump s administration, which was supposed to go into effect in March, would have hampered the ability of workers at companies like Uber and Lyft to demand benefits like overtime pay.
