A New Orleans hospital executive has been selected to succeed Jan L. Bergen as the CEO of Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, Lancaster Countyâs dominant health system and largest employer.
Her replacement is John J. Herman, it was announced Thursday by LG Healthâs parent, the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
Herman, age 52, will begin his new job March 1. He has been CEO of the North Shore Region for the Ochsner Health system in New Orleans since May 2018.
In that role, Herman leads Ochsner Healthâs network of owned or financially integrated hospitals, multispecialty ambulatory centers and more than 110 clinics on the North Shore in Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. These employ more than 6,000 people.
Biography William S. Murray is a Professor and the Director of the Halsey Bravo research effort at the United States Naval War College. He joined the navy in 1983 immediately after graduating from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Professor Murray served on, and qualified to command nuclear powered submarines. In 1994 he received a Master of Arts degree from the United States Naval War College. Prof. Murray has served on the Operations staff at the United States Strategic Command, and as a member of the faculty of the Naval War College s Strategic Research Department. He retired from the Navy in 2003.

The scholar passed away Sunday afternoon.
The management of UNILAG has confirmed his death.
Olayinka Balogun, Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul.
“With heavy heart, and submission to the will of God, I write to inform Council members of the transition to glory of Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, First Technical University, Ibadan which occurred today 03/01/2021”, he noted.
Ibidapo-Obe was born on July 5, 1949 in Ile Ife, Osun State.
He attended Lagos Street African Church Primary School, Ebute-Metta (1955 – 1961); Obokun High School/Ilesa Grammar School (1962 – 1966); and later Igbobi College, Yaba, (1966–1968).

Long time Special Prosecutor and current City of Niagara Falls Corporation Counsel, Christopher M. Mazur, has announced his candidacy for Niagara Falls City Court Judge for 2021. Mr. Mazur is seeking the seat currently held by Judge Mark Anthony Violante, who will be reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70 next year.
“My professional and life experience has prepared me to take the next step in my legal career as I am ready to follow in the footsteps of past and current City Court judges who are alumni of the Corporation Counsel’s office.”

A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, Mazur is a graduate of the former Niagara Catholic High School. The first member of his family to attend college, he graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo with degrees in political science and history prior to obtaining his law degree from the SUNY Buffalo Law School.
