Syracuse, N.Y. The State University of New York is distributing its first shipment of 18,600 doses of Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine to 34 of its campuses so students can get vaccinated before they go home for the summer.
SUNY announced today it is working with the state to get additional doses reserved for students who live on SUNY campuses. More vaccine will be distributed to campuses over the next few weeks.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine only requires one dose. SUNY said the one-shot vaccine will be helpful for students who may be scheduled to go home for summer break before they can get a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
