Edo conducts 3201 COVID-19 tests since second wave

BENIN CITY – The Edo State through its network of 4 PCR molecular laboratories has conducted a total of 3201 coronavirus (COVID-19) tests, which returned a total of 242 confirmed positive cases since the state started tracking the second wave of the pandemic on December 1, 2020. The Edo State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, disclosed this in a meeting of the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) chaired by the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki. According to him, “Since we started tracking the second wave of the coronavirus outbreak in Edo State from December 1, 2020, we have conducted a total of 3201 coronavirus (COVID-19) tests in the 4 PCR molecular laboratories in the state. We have a case positivity rate of 7.5 percent.

Edo records 14 fresh COVID-19 cases | Ripples Nigeria

Edo State government on Thursday confirmed 14 fresh COVID-19 cases in the state. The State Incident Manager on COVID-19, Dr. Andrew Obi, who disclosed this in a statement in Benin, said the government had reactivated isolation and treatment centres in the state. He urged residents of the state to be proactive and observe all precautionary measures to guard against the spread of the virus. Obi also implored people of the state to take personal responsibility in protecting themselves to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while celebrating the beginning of the New Year. According to him, nine of the new cases were confirmed at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) while the remaining five cases were recorded at the Irrua Specialist Hospital laboratory.
