She is also a teacher at a private school in Benin City, Edo State, but life has never been the same for her. The first shock of her life was when she lost her husband to the cold hands of death. As a widow whose husband passed on in 2009, she had been struggling to take care of her children without the needed assistance from anyone; taking all her troubles with equanimity, believing that one day some day, all her worried will minimise perhaps when the children grow up to fend for themselves and become self reliant.

COVID-19: Edo embarks on vaccination campaign for teachers ahead of schools reopening – Nigerian Observer

BENIN CITY – The Edo State Government has kicked off coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination campaign for private and public school teachers across the state’s 18 local government areas ahead of schools’ reopening on Monday, May 10, 2020. The Edo State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, disclosed this while addressing journalists at the weekend in Benin City, the Edo State capital. He explained that the exercise is part of efforts by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to contain the pandemic and ensure the health and safety of citizens. Obi said the vaccination exercise for the teachers, which commenced on Saturday, May 08, 2021 will end on May 14, 2021, when the state will round off the first phase of the vaccination.

Regular handwashing critical against COVID-19 third wave –CMD Published 12 May 2021 The Chief Medical Director, University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Prof. Darlington Obaseki, has advised Nigerians to always observe regular handwashing and other stipulated safety measures to avoid the current third wave of COVID-19 raging in India and some other countries. Obaseki, at an event organised by the hospital to mark 2021 World Hand Hygiene Day, urged Nigerians not to be deceived by the current low cases of COVID-19 in the country. He said, “We pray that what is happening in India doesn’t get here but that can only happen if we keep doing the right things by wearing our face masks and washing our hands regularly,” he said.
