Vaccine Hesitancy Increases Among Gen Z Adults

Vaccine Hesitancy Increases Among Gen Z Adults April 22, 2021 Hesitancy around COVID-19 vaccination appears to be increasing among Generation Z those born between 1997 and 2012 in recent months. Public health officials are concerned about vaccine hesitancy in this age group as COVID-19 cases have spiked among young adults. In a NBCLX/Morning Consult poll conducted in March, 26% of Gen Z respondents said they won’t get vaccinated, and 19% said they aren’t sure whether they will get inoculated. In a similar NBCLX/Morning Consult poll conducted in March 2020, 5% of Gen Z respondents said they wouldn’t get vaccinated. In a recent STAT-Harris Poll, about 21% of Gen Z respondents said they won’t get vaccinated, and 34% said they would “wait awhile and see” before getting a vaccine.

Proportion of gun use in TV violence statistically parallels US gun homicide trends

Credit: Image by Marcus Trapp from Pixabay A new study shows that the proportion of gun violence relative to other forms of violence in TV dramas increased from 2000 to 2018, with statistical parallels to trends in actual gun homicides among U.S. youths. Patrick E. Jamieson and Daniel Romer of the University of Pennsylvania s Annenberg Public Policy Center present these findings in the open-access journal PLOS ONE on March 17, 2021. Firearm injuries and deaths are a major public health concern in the U.S. A long-standing hypothesis suggests that increases in gun violence in popular media result in increases real-life gun violence among youths. However, homicide rates among youths have declined in recent decades, challenging this view.

Our Annual Fundraising Appeal

Our Annual Fundraising Appeal The year 2020 was brutal – and unfair. More than 300,000 Americans died of COVID-19. Millions were diagnosed with the disease some of those still suffering long-term effects. Tens of millions have lost their jobs, and millions have been pushed into poverty. Throughout this dark period, readers came to our website in record numbers to get the facts on a torrent of misinformation on divisive issues that piled up as 2020 wore on. The year started with the Senate impeachment trial and acquittal, and the ongoing race for the Democratic presidential nomination – which included more than two dozen candidates. It was soon hijacked by a pandemic and tensions were further inflamed by George Floyd’s death in police custody and the subsequent nationwide protests.
