Marjorie Viola Whispell, 29, of Wyoming, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021, in University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. Born in Wilkes-Barre on April 23, 1991, she was the daughter of Harold and Emmaruth Miller Whispell of Pittston. Marj was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and Wilkes University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary and early childhood education. She was employed at New Story, Throop, where she loved teaching her students and helping them grow. Marj was artistic and enjoyed painting, drawing and wood carving. She could always be found watching Grey’s Anatomy and Bob’s Burgers. She loved spending time with her family and friends more than anything. A typical summer, you wouldn’t find her at home. She would always be out with her family and friends or on vacation with them. She loved Ocean City, Md. You could find her in a crab restaurant going for all you could eat crabs and a margarita.

The trend is most stark within Rite Aid s distribution, which has so far given nearly 87 percent of its doses to white people. The pharmacy chain is the second-largest provider of vaccines allocated to Philadelphia, with nearly 80 stores across the city. New data from the city shows that as of last February, for every 21 white people vaccinated from Rite Aid, only one Black person received a dose.
