University of Portland nursing students join Kaiser s vaccination effort

PORTLAND, Ore. Nursing students at the University of Portland (UP) are getting ready to be part of history, joining Kaiser Permanente next month to administer COVID-19 vaccines.
Dr. Katie Sharff is an infectious disease physician at Permanente Northwest. She received the vaccine Friday as a frontline health care worker. [It s] a sense of hope in a very challenging time, Sharff said.
However, with coronavirus case numbers trending upward across the country and in the Pacific Northwest, Sharff said keeping the local community and her team safe is challenging.

Tamim Almousa is an award-winning writer and storyteller, penning feature screenplays, short films, and sketches.
Last year, his script “Knee Socks” won in the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards and in 2018 his “Talk Me Down” script was a finalist in the same awards.
Other scripts made it to the second round of the Austin Film Festival, and the quarterfinals of the ScreenCraft, BlueCat, and Scriptapalooza competitions.
Almousa said: “Everybody should aspire to earn their living with dignity; doing something they believe in, doing something they’re good at.
“It’s simple. First, you embark on a journey that explores what you might be good at. Then, and this is easier said than done, you figure out ways to capitalize on it.”
