Mashpee Students Reflect On Making Their College Decision During Pandemic

With May 1 come and gone, many high school seniors can breathe a sigh of relief. May 1 is not just the beginning of another month to them; it’s better known as one of the most critical deadlines in their lives to date. May 1 is National College Decision Day—the day when most seniors have to declare which school they will attend next year and to submit their initial deposits. In Mashpee, there are 118 members of the Class of 2021. So far, 83 students have determined where they will attend, with 35 still making their final choices, as some schools have extended the typical May 1 deadline. In total, the students were accepted to 111 different colleges across the country and the world. However, with travel restricted for so much of this past year, visiting all of these colleges was not an option and making the choice of where to call home for the next four years has never been harder.
