Twenty prominent personalities, globally renowned for
their intellectual leadership in economic and social fields,
will form the second United Nations High-level Advisory
Board (HLAB) on Economic and Social Affairs, the UN
Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA)
announced today.
Over the next two years, the Board
will strengthen the United Nations thought leadership on
sustainable development and reinforce its impact on policies
at every level – from global to local.
Comprising a
diverse group of experts from around the world, the Board
will closely collaborate with UN DESA to provideguidance and
focused recommendations for the UN Secretary-General to

ORONO In honor of Black History Month, the University of Maine Black Student Union and the University of Maine Alumni Association will welcome Dr. Sonia Sanchez and Dr. John Bracey to discuss the importance and impact of Black Studies in 21st century higher education at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, over Zoom, according to a news release from UMaine News.
“Black Studies in 21st Century Higher Education” also will be livestreamed on the UMaine Alumni YouTube channel.

MARIAN FATHERS HIT BY VIRUS: An outbreak of 17 COVID cases has been reported at the Marians of the Immaculate Conception, the Catholic male congregationâs National Shrine on Prospect Hill in Stockbridge. âEveryone is following COVID safety guidelines and complying with isolation and quarantine standards,â said James Wilusz, executive director of the Tri-Town Health Department covering Lee, Lenox and Stockbridge.
