Nancy was born in Bay City, Michigan to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Knight. She died at home in Leesburg, Florida under the hospice care of her husband, Jim.
Nancy graduated from Alpena High School in 1954. In August 1955, she married her sweetheart of four years in their hometown of Lincoln, Michigan. In May 1956, Nancy and Jim were the first married couple to receive their Associate Degrees from Alpena Community College. At age 20, she began her 35-year elementary school teaching career near Ann Arbor, using her provisional Michigan teaching certificate from ACC. After teaching three years, she entered Eastern Michigan University and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in 1960, and later her Masters Degree. She then taught for 11 years at Dearborn Heights and finished her distinguished teaching career with 24 years in Alpena Public elementary schools until 1992.

BRIDGEPORT TWP, MI A reward is being offered for information in a summer hit-and-run that resulted in a Saginaw man’s death.
Jeremy Lee Cundiff, 30, was riding his orange moped north on Dixie Highway in Bridgeport Township about 3:30 a.m. on June 5 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle, according to police. The collision occurred near the ramp to northbound Interstate 75, and near the Love’s Travel Stop at 6560 Dixie Hwy.
Cundiff died of his injuries 10 days later at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.

MACON TWP., MI - A male teen driver died and his mother was seriously injured after a single-vehicle crash on an icy, snow-covered road Sunday afternoon in Lenawee County, police said.
Deputies with the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly after 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 31 to a traffic crash on Britton Highway south of Smith Road in Macon Township, approximately 10 miles south of Saline.
The 15-year-old boy, a student at Britton-Deerfield Schools, was headed south on Britton Highway in a 2002 Chrysler Town and County minivan with his mother in the passenger seat, per a Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office news release.

BAY CITY, MI A Kentucky man has been ordered to pay fines for having THC in his system when a vehicle he was driving crashed and killed his teenage passenger on the Fourth of July. He avoided a stiffer penalty as investigators found the substance did not contribute to the collision.
Joseph H. Cozart Jr., 26, on Tuesday, Jan. 26, appeared via Zoom before Bay County District Judge Timothy J. Kelly for sentencing. Cozart in December pleaded no contest to one count of operating a motor vehicle with the presence of a controlled substance-marijuana. In exchange, the prosecution agreed to dismiss a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
