Certainly, those are all respected business schools, but conspicuously absent are some of the “usual suspects” of elite MBA rankings.
For example, the top two schools from the Economist’s 2019 ranking, University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and Harvard Business School, are nowhere to be found. How could that be?
The answer, it turns out, is that a number of top MBA programs simply decided to sit out the Economist’s ranking this year.
But their loss seems to be the gain of schools like IESE, which catapulted 9 spots to the top of the ranking, or EDHEC, which jumped an entire 25 spots.
The University of Michigan Ross School of Business has received a $5 million gift to provide need-based scholarship support for domestic and international business students who have blazed a trail or taken on challenges.
Through the True Grit Scholarship Fund, Ross will award partial and full-ride scholarships to current and incoming full-time master’s and bachelor’s of business administration students who have demonstrated notable determination to succeed in business and in life. Recipients may include students who are the first in their families to pursue a degree at a postsecondary institution and those who have overcome personal obstacles, served in the military or otherwise exhibited personal fortitude and resilience in staking their own path in the world.

An anonymous donor has gifted $5 million to the University of Michigan s Ross School of Business for scholarships directed to students who have demonstrated notable determination to succeed in business and in life.
The donation established the True Grit Scholarship Fund, which will cover partial and full-ride scholarships for select domestic and international business students, according to a Tuesday news release from the university.
The fund was named and created by a Michigan Ross alumnus who wants to remain anonymous, the university said. I m incredibly excited to announce the new True Grit Scholarship Fund to support students who have overcome challenges to pursue their business education at Michigan Ross, Scott DeRue, dean of Michigan Ross, said in the release.
