“Living Well” is the program focus of University of Minnesota Family & Consumer Science Extension Educators across Minnesota. Extension educational programs focus on raising kids, healthy and safe food, spending smart and living well. The Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, both at the national level and in Minnesota, promotes the Living Well Campaign, celebrated in March.

SPRINGFIELD Springfield was one of four Southern Minnesota cities selected to be a part of the three-year Rural Entrepreneurial Venture (REV) program.
Part of the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF), the program will work with Springfield, Montgomery, Wells, and Mapleton to explore different approaches to supporting entrepreneurs and economic growth.
The program supports long-term economic growth in towns of 5,000 or less. It includes a “coach” from the SMIF, Region Nine Development Commission or the University of Minnesota Extension to help guide the community for three years.
U of M Extension Community Economics Educator Neil Linscheid was chosen as Springfield’s REV coach.

ST. CLOUD - The official start of Spring is just a few short weeks away. While we wait you may consider starting a few seeds indoors. Starting garden flower and vegetable plants in the home can provide the home gardener with enjoyment as well as some definite advantages. One of the greatest of these advantages is that it allows the gardener to start varieties of vegetable and flowers that are not readily available from local bedding plant sources. In addition, it can save the gardener some money, particularly if large numbers of transplants are needed.
