Smoke from wildfires reaches Georgia
The smoke from several wildfires burning out West is causing smoke to drift towards the East Coast and over Georgia.
ATLANTA - The FOX 5 Storm Team is tracking smoke from several wildfires that is high in the atmosphere over portions of Georgia.
Some of that smoke could dip down over the metro Atlanta area this week.
It wouldn t cause much of a health hazard as much as it might make the nightly sunsets a bit more spectacular.
Smoke and ash from massive wildfires in the American West clouded the sky and led to air quality alerts Wednesday on parts of the East Coast as the effects of the blazes were felt 2,500 miles away.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) â Smoke and ash from massive wildfires in the American West clouded the sky and led to air quality alerts Wednesday on parts of the East Coast as the effects of the blazes were felt 2,500 miles (4,023 kilometers) away.
Strong winds blew smoke east from California, Oregon, Montana and other states all the way to other side of the continent. Haze hung over New York City, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The nationâs largest wildfire, Oregonâs Bootleg Fire, grew to 616 square miles (1,595 square kilometers) â just over half the size of Rhode Island. Fires also burned on both sides of Californiaâs Sierra Nevada and in Washington state and other areas of the West.
